Davis Park Changes Rec Program Rules, Causing Consternation For Local Parents

Davis Park experienced an marked upsurge in attendance when the new swimming pool and bathhouse opened last year. Olive residents flocked poolside to relax and refresh themselves in the cool water while over 300 children registered for the town's day camp and recreation activities.
As word about the new facilities spread, many people living in the surrounding towns of Shandaken, Woodstock and Marbletown began to inquire about using the pool and enrolling their children in the summer park programs.

Seniors Prepare For The Big Day June 28 As Board Gives Principal Ruben Tenure

At the Onteora high school, seniors are preparing for graduation, with ceremonies scheduled for Saturday, June 28, at 11:00 a.m. on the football field. If the weather is inclement, the proceedings will take place in the large gym. Each senior is allotted five or six tickets to give to friends and relatives, who will have folding chairs reserved for them.

Fearful For A Tot, A Chichester Man Wounds A Bear And Ends Up Before The Courts

A Chichester man who shot a 405 pound male black bear takes issue with the way the incident was reported in the Daily Freeman. Carl Steen went before the judge in Phoenicia on Tuesday for having shot a bear out of season. He was fined $300 for a lower civil charge by Town Justice Tom Crucet.
