Tax Lawsuits

Olive Press Staff
The Catskill
Watershed Corporation (CWC) Board of Directors has declared
that unresolved tax assessment litigation brought by New York
City against upstate municipalities where the city owns dams,
land and buildings is “the most serious issue presently
facing the towns in the (City’s) West of Hudson Watershed.”
In a resolution adopted at its November 27 meeting, the CWC
Board urges a “global settlement” of current lawsuits,
and requests that the City sit down to “discuss agreement

avoided.”

Talk about Déjà
vu… It’s the end
of another year, with the first
snow bringing a nice holiday
cheer to local homes, and what
suddenly rounds the corner just
as everyone’s getting
into a lazy, armchair-sitting
mood for the holidays? Move
aside Santa Claus and howdy
do Dean Gitter… or at
least that giant Belleayre Resort
project he’s been pushing
towards reality for over seven
years now.

Jar Of Olives...
‘Tis The Season
12/6/2007
By Carol La Monda
Peggy Stohr and husband Jerry
are snowbirds who left for Florida
just days before our first snowfall.
She will be reading The Olive
Press online. Enjoy that sunshine,
Peggy! Today that same snow was
my catalyst to gear up for the
holiday season.
Hanukkah has begun and Christmas
is three weeks away. Those are
the religious holidays that often
get lost in the blitz of commercialism
and glitz of decorations. The
“holiday” of frantic
shopping and insane decorating
started the second we made that
turkey sandwich with mayo on Thanksgiving
night. I swear that store personnel
must have been put on overtime
to obliterate all that is orange
and replace it with green and
red and silver and gold.
