Although final figures are hard to determine, and much is still reliant on the New York state budget’s needs, whose lead agent – the Governor – is in charge of what gets spent where, when and how, it’s starting to look like the Route 28 corridor could do quite well from federal stimulus funding coming down the pike fast just now.

Four From Shandaken & Olive Vie To Fill Out Onteora Term Until May Elections

Four residents of the Onteora School Community, including one former member of the District’s School Board and a student, have entered the race for the seat on the seven member board left vacant by Trustee Ralph Legnini earlier this month.
All four, and perhaps even some newcomers to the race, will be on hand at the board’s next meeting, slated for 6pm next Tuesday, March 3 at the Woodstock Elementary School. Anyone interested in the spot was asked to submit a written statement to District Superintendent Dr. Leslie Ford by February 16.

Shabby Chic is in. We all seem a little poorer. Even the rich have been humbled in this precarious economy. The media revels in the topic of economizing in hard times. Cooking shows have featured more of the old-fashioned comfort foods that fill our plates and our stomachs and less of the fancy exotic food piled high in what Joe Kosarek calls “vertical gourmet foods” with more eye appeal than substance.
