Developers Try Changing The Document, As State Senate Mulls
Weighing In
2/28/2008
By Olive Press Staff
So what’s
with the Scoping Document the state Department of Environmental
Conservation was supposed to have released, outlining what it
wanted for its environmental review of the Belleayre Resort
and state-owned Belleayre Ski Center expansion plans proposed
by Governor Spitzer in a controversial Agreement in Principal
announced last September?
According to state sources, it’s done… and its big.
And it’s gotten caught up in attempts by the private resort
developers to change some of what’s in it.

Expect a Scoping Document for the proposed Belleayre Resort
and state-owned ski center’s expansion to be arriving
in the coming week, if not tomorrow.
According to DEC Spokesperson Yancey Roy, the blueprint for
the upcoming environmental review was delayed from its original
February 1 release date, “based on the volume of comments,”
and no specific timetable for the document’s completion

That ‘Rashomon Effect’
Truth Comes Down To Many Viewpoints

The snowy, icy weather and my broken leg has kept me homebound
except for a brief foray into Kingston with a charge card
and a 30% off coupon for some “retail therapy”
for my cabin fever and February blahs. Being home, I have
had to rely on the media for my connection to the outside
world. Reading books, newspapers, talking on the phone
and watching television have been my lifeline to what’s
going on in the town, county, state and world. It seems
like all my information has come to me second hand, and
worse, interpreted by someone else.

Hatemonger Yankee Jim’s
Brutal Murder/Suicide Touches
All In The Onteora Orbit
2/28/2008
By Jesse J. Smith
On his blog and his weekly
internet radio show "Yankee"
Jim Leshkevich railed
bitterly against blacks,
Jews, Latinos and the
apathetic whites who failed
to heed the call of "white
nationalism." But
in the end it apparently
was bitterness of a much
more personal kind that
consumed him.
Police say sometime after
10:30 p.m. on Monday,
February 18 - the time
stamp on a long, rambling
internet blog entry about
his wife's alleged infidelity
- Leshkevich, 52, attacked
his wife Deborah, a popular
55 year-old sixth grade
teaching assistant at
Woodstock Elementary School,
in the couple's home on
Morgan Hill Road in Hurley.
