Sometimes we forget world tragedies when the news moves on to other things. But not this week... On Friday, April 23, the priceless 11-piece Haitian band, Boukman Eksperyans, headlines a special Haitian benefit at Backstage Productions' fabulous space in Uptown Kingston. The evening starts at 7:00 PM with a Panel Discussion featuring Haitian People's Support Project President Pierre Leroy and the HPSP medical team (just returned from Haiti) along with members of Boukman Eksperyans to discuss relief efforts and next steps. At 8:00 PM there will be a musical and spoken invocation/prayer for Haiti with drums and other instruments, as well as 100 children from the Community Children's Chorus. At 9:00 PM, latin wonders Sonando take the stage, followed by Boukmans at 10:00 PM. Back Stage Productions is located at 323 Wall Street in Kingston. It's all being produced by Evelyne Pouget and Creative Music Studio. For more information visit www.haitiansupportproject.org.
