MOTHER'S
DAY... The weather starts to warm up enough to allow our moms
some time for sunning. Then they begin to beam. And finally,
we are reminded, as always, why we love them so... Happies to
all our maternal watchers this Sunday!

held on Saturday, May 1 at the Belleayre Mountain
Overlook Lodge. Funded by New York City Environmental
Protection and hosted by the Ashokan Watershed Stream
Management Program, Ulster County Cornell Cooperative
Extension and Ulster County Soil & Water Conservation
District, the conference focused on floodplain and
stormwater management for municipalities, commercial
and homeowner concerns. Approximately 65 to 70 people

May Day! May Day!
4/8/2010
By Carol LaMonda
Gardening can be dangerous to your health, especially
if one is clumsy. I went to pull one little weed, tripped
on a rock, pitched forward and used my right hand to
break my fall. LITERALLY. X-rays confirmed what I already
knew when I saw my wrist and hand were headed in different
directions. I will know tomorrow if a titanium plate
is required in surgery

DEC's Final Approach

Drilling Regs Draws
Mixed Reception
5/6/2009
By Brian Powers
After months of pressure
from environmental groups
and the City of New
York, state regulators
announced April 23 that
applications for natural
gas drilling in the
city's watershed, along
with another smaller
one outside Syracuse,
would be excluded from
a pending statewide
environmental review
process now expected
to be in place by the
end of the year. Instead,
Department of Environmental
Conservation Commissioner
Pete Grannis announced
that within these two
watersheds "there
must be an additional
review process which
may result in associated
regulatory and other
controls on drilling."
