Looking
ahead under a sweltering afternoon
sky, Onteora seniors sat through their graduation last Friday,
June 27, and are now Onteora Graduates of the Class of ‘08.
We wish them all luck as they go on, now, to college, careers,
and all that adult life offers us. Bravo!

This is what's been going on lately--- everywhere I go
someone wants to tell me their secret. I don't mean little confidences
that they might tell their hair stylist or their trainer or
even their best friend--- you know, that lipstick they swiped
from a local store, or the co-worker they kissed at a holiday
party, or the gossip they've been spreading about an office

In what many are calling
a maverick move, but none
are as yet countering, Ulster
County Legislative Majority
Leader David Donaldson held
a solo press conference
last Friday, June 27, to
blast both houses of the
state legislature and his
own state senators, and
urge the boycotting of two
Greene County ski centers
in response to new state
legislation he says is aimed
at stalling growth at Shandaken-based
Belleayre Mountain, a state-owned
ski resort.

Mark your calendars for two special
events. Krista Cayea, music teacher
at Onteora, is organizing a concert
to benefit Killian Mansfield,
a tenth-grade student who is battling
cancer. The music fest, which
starts at 5 p.m., will be held
at the Reservoir Methodist Church,
Shokan, on July 11. A suggested
donation of $10.00 will go to
this good cause that promises
finger food and outstanding local
talent. Krista Cayea, fellow music
teacher Wini Paetow, Garry Kvistad,
Brian and Fran Hollander, and
many others will perform. For
more information, contact Jim
Sofranko.
