City’s Rec Rules Tossed
Greene County Case Seems To Suggest Possible Changes In Reservoir Policies

7/5/2007 By Olive Press Staff
A state Supreme Court justice in Greene County has thrown out rules for recreational use of watershed lands that the New York City Department of Environmental Protection enacted last year.
The town of Hunter had filed a lawsuit against the city agency over the rules, claiming they were adopted without proper procedure and that the rules themselves hurt the local economy by limiting access to thousands of acres of city-owned watershed land. The town argued that the rules, adopted in August 2006, violated the 1997 Memorandum of Agreement between the city and communities in its upstate watershed because the agreement allows for public access to the watershed.

One Last Time To Run
After Decades, Leifeld Says This One Will Be His Last Super Campaign

Lending Oneself To A Meandering Mind

5/7/2007 By Carol La Monda
What do Shirley Fischler, Madonna, Henry David Thoreau and Kermit the Frog have in common? Read on to discover that each of them has an opinion about “stuff.”
Shirley Fischler has been writing about her moving and downsizing, ideally if not actually, as she relocates. Moving last May gave me a similar lesson about “stuff.” After one year in our new house, there are still three boxes of “stuff” to unpack.

Life After High School

7/5/2007 By Martin Michaels
It is a difficult and life altering transition. Moving on from High School and the familiar community of our rural Catskill Mountain area can seem like an overwhelming and confusing experience. Not only do we have the task of finding exactly what we want to do with our lives, but there is a whole host of larger issues in society that we may feel an obligation to help correct.
