Onteora High
School track coach and physical education teacher Patrick Burkhardt
remembers that he was battling a flu one Friday in early June
when he answered an unexpected phone call from the school’s
principal. The call, which was to alert him to a change in his
assignment for next year, stunned him with news which he feels
threatens to end his coaching career.

Mountain Eco-Heritage festival being held at the Ashokan Center
in Olivebridge on Labor Day weekend will celebrate nature,
music and art at the first major event open to the public
since the Ashokan Foundation assumed ownership of the former
Ashokan Campus Outdoor Education Center from the SUNY New
Paltz Campus Auxiliary Services in March, 2008.
