Keith McGlyn of Onteora Junior Flag Football
says the league’s season finale at Grant Avery field in
Shokan was a lot of work, but also a whole lot of fun, given the
great sports played that the day... as well as the large crowd’s
enthusiasm.

First Traffic Light?
Boiceville School Campus Begins The Push Towards A Safer Traffic
Situation

By Gary Alexander
Interim superintendent of schools for the Onteora Central School
District John G. Jordan believes the time is right to address
a part time problem with a part time solution. Made aware of
recent legislation which will offer New York State Department
of Transportation (DOT) funds for traffic signals on state highways
connected to active school properties, Jordan believes a strategic

It’s 6 pm on Thursday night, November 9, and the kids
have piled onto Olive’s Grant Avery field for an evening

supporters, to the eventual tune of several hundred fans,
keep streaming up from Route 28 and Bostock Road to add to

Cultural Zones Touches On Incentives

By Paul Smart
There’s something happening
in the arts throughout Ulster County.
In a series of three decently-attended
“informational meetings”
enticingly-entitled “The Future
of Arts in Ulster County,”
arts professionals came out to talk
about their needs and wishes. And,
more importantly, to hear a sales
pitch from two busy-as-beavers arts
administrators seeking to reshape
the long-sidelined Ulster County
Arts Council into a better-needed
and funded centralizing force.

are having a bit of holiday overload. The
trick-or-treat candy is at half-price, Thanksgiving
turkeys are everywhere, deer hunting supplies
abound in the sporting stores, Chanukah displays
are blue and silver while Christmas has erupted
in a frenzy of red and green! In this mishmash
of stale candy corn, cranberries, leaf suits
or day-glow orange apparel, and glitzy decorations
and ornaments, the shopper is in a holiday
tizzy! How does one cope?
