Message from Supervisor Di Modica

My father is a World War II veteran, and we celebrate Christmas. I would not accept a plan that would not allow lighting an American flag or decorating your house for the holidays. This Town Board would not approve over-regulating private property or taking property from its citizens. We have a broad based group of volunteers working on a Comprehensive Plan looking for input from the community. A Comprehensive Plan is the community's vision of the town 5, 10, 20 years down the road. It sets forth goals and actions to achieve those goals, and all of this is now before the community for comment. The reason why we have a public hearing on an early draft is to work out these problems. This isn’t about politics this is about the future of the Town. My ultimate concern is what you have to say, not the press. This is your document and I would encourage everyone who was at the meeting on Jan. 13 and others to come to the rescheduled public hearing. Bring your ideas and leave your anger home so all of us can create a balanced vision for our children and ourselves. We cannot allow ourselves to be taken over by the power of big money nor can we be choked by over regulation.

The Public Hearing on the Draft Comprehensive Plan has been rescheduled for later in the month. The community participation was overwhelming and on the advice of the Officer-In-Charge and the Zoning Enforcement Officer it was adjourned for rescheduling. We are going to move it to the Lower Lodge at Belleayre Ski Center at 7 PM, January 27th. Thanks to Tony Lanza for providing 300 chairs and a sound system. Please car pool to help your neighbors get there.
