Fearful For A Tot, A Chichester Man Wounds A Bear And Ends

A Chichester man who shot a 405 pound male black bear takes issue
with the way the incident was reported in the Daily Freeman. Carl
Steen went before the judge in Phoenicia on Tuesday for having
shot a bear out of season. He was fined $300 for a lower civil
charge by Town Justice Tom Crucet.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Phoenicia Rotary Club,
which will hold its celebration on the pavilion at Al's Restaurant
on Sunday with dinner, dancing and reminiscing.

funds.

Committee Reconfigures With Double Proxies, Names Chair, Sets

Off again, on again. So goes Shandaken's comprehensive plan
committee.
At its June 9 meeting a vote was takenby members of the town's
Comprehensive Planning Committee in which the majority voted
to continue the seemingly endless task of forging a document
that outlines a vision for the town's future. The count was
close at 7 to 5, with two members voting in abstentia.

Uldis Roze Talks About Porcupines

That's the short of it according to biologist Uldis Roze who
lives over the notch in Lexington, and who's been studying the
porcupines of the Catskills for 25 years.
