Public Hearing On Crossroads' Review
Indicates A Citizenry Ready To Listen

A standing room only crowd of about 120 filled town hall on
Monday night for a public hearing on the town's proposed local
law, which as currently written could compel Crossroads Ventures
to pay up to $375,000 for the town's cost of reviewing their
$300 million Belleayre Resort project.

Bea Schwartz Sums It All Up...

As Chair of Shandaken's tax Grievance Review Board these past
31 years, Bea Schwartz has heard her share of gripes. And her
reputation for being tough as nails and just about as pointed
is probably, well, accurate.
"Thirty years ago people had legitimate complaints. Now,
actually a couple years back, a guy came in to complain that
one corner of his property on the Stony Clove was under water
so he wanted his assessment lowered. He didn't get it, but a
month later he sold the place for more money than any of us
would have believed. "

June 11 at 7 PM. Tune in, listen, and make
up your own mind... then make written comments. Not everyone
likes to stand up in front of a big room and speak!

Fall Races Lining Up
Dems & GOP Set Candidates For County Legislative
Races Come November..

Following a meeting of Democratic committee people from around
the county, held in the Common Council chambers at the restored
Kingston City Hall on June 2, opposing slates for the November
legislative elections have been all but set, barring last-minute
changes and Conservative and other independent party candidacies
and endorsements.
