Let’s play ‘Pretend.”
We can do that better than anybody.
Let’s pretend this is real wealth
getting sliced &diced by banker’s
software; real contributing wealth like
the production centers our business leaders
have deported along with the domestic income
employment attached to production, like
the paychecks of Hershey workers before
they moved their operations to India and
changed the taste of their chocolates..
Let’s pretend that we can pay off
this national credit card before we max
it out. Let’s pretend these folks
in the limelight are political leaders,
running the affairs of the nation in the
public interest rather than just talking
props in a stage play written by a committee
of thieves. Let’s pretend the actions
being taken now are for the good of everybody...
Better yet, let’s pretend this isn’t
really happening. Let’s pretend everything
is normal...
Okay, enough pretending.
