Route 28 Closing Gets Postponed For Now While Olive Spans Get Hammered

Good news and bad news, regarding local roads.
The New York City Department of Environmental Protection announced this week, at short notice, that Reservoir Road in the town of Olive, which stretches over the Dividing Weir at the New York City-owned Ashokan Reservoir, will be closed from Wednesday, August 30 at 6:00 AM to Friday, September 1 at 6:00 PM for road resurfacing.

Developer Suggests Minor Changes As He Attempts To Shortcut Review Process

Local developer Crossroads Ventures announced via press release on Monday, August 28, that it was reducing a portion of the eastern half of its proposed Belleayre Resort, eliminating one of two planned golf courses and cutting back its number of lodging units.
But far from signaling any move towards ending the environmental review process that has dogged Crossroads and its general partner, Dean Gitter, for seven years, the new proposal has spurred a wary reaction.

OCS Votes Not To Vote
Board Splits Along Town Lines As Large Parcel Issue Roils District One More TIme

In what could be viewed as a protest vote, the Onteora School board passed a resolution August 22 not to vote on the Large Parcel Bill. The vote, by a 4-3 margin, fell along town lines with Trustees Herb Rosenfeld of Woodstock, Maxanne Resnick of Shandaken and Marino D’Orazio of Marbletown voting against the resolution and Dave Patterson of Hurley and Rita Vanacore, Cindy O’Connor and Mary Jane Berholz of Olive for it.

This past spring, my son graduated from Elementary School. Just recently we received his Onteora Middle School schedule in the mail along with an invitation to a seventh grade open house on August 23. This is where the kids can take a tour of the facilities, get their locker number, meet the teachers and get introduced to a variety of other activities.
